The Stretch App privacy policy
This policy explains what information The Stretch App (“the app”) uses, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. The Stretch App is published by Indimakes (“we”, “us”). Our general privacy policy covers this website, our other apps, and versions of The Stretch App earlier than 3.0; where it differs from this page, this page applies to The Stretch App.
In short
- You can use the app without an account. Your sessions, streak, routines and settings are kept on your device.
- If you sign in, an optional cloud backup keeps your streak, custom routines and plan so they follow you to a new phone. You can delete the account and the backup in the app at any time.
- Apple Health is optional and write-only: the app saves finished sessions as workouts and never reads your Health data.
- The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Premium subscribers see no ads and are never asked for ad tracking permission.
- Purchases are handled by Apple. We never see your card or payment details.
- We don’t sell your personal information for money.
Information that stays on your device
The app works without an account. The following is stored on your device and is not sent to us unless you turn on the cloud backup described below.
- Finished sessions (routine, date, duration and number of stretches), which the app uses to work out your streak and progress.
- Custom routines you build, including the names you give them.
- Your plan: the answers you give when setting up the app (goal, areas to focus on, level and minutes a day), your pace settings, colour theme, voice guidance setting and reminder time.
- Counters such as how many sessions you have finished, used to decide when to suggest rating the app or show the Premium offer.
Widgets and Apple Watch
The home screen and lock screen widget shows your streak and today’s routine. The Apple Watch app shows your streak and follows a session running on your iPhone. Both read this information directly from the app on your own devices; it is not sent to us for that purpose.
Reminders and voice guidance
Daily reminders are scheduled on your device and work only if you allow notifications. We don’t send push notifications from a server. Voice guidance uses the text-to-speech voices built into your device.
Account and cloud backup
Signing in is optional. You can sign in with an email address and password, with Apple, or with Google. Sign-in is provided by Google Firebase Authentication, which processes your email address, a user ID, the sign-in method and, if the provider supplies it, your name. Passwords are handled by Firebase; we cannot see them.
When you are signed in, the app can keep a backup in Google Cloud Firestore. The backup contains your finished sessions, your custom routines and your plan settings, stored under your user ID. Only you can read or change it.
- Uploading to the backup is a Premium feature.
- An existing backup is downloaded when you sign in, with or without Premium, so your streak comes back on a new phone.
- Logging out removes your sessions, earlier activity history and custom routines from that device. Your backup, if you have one, stays in your account.
- Deleting your account (Settings › Delete account) deletes the backup, the account and the same data on that device.
Apple Health
Apple Health sync is optional and off until you turn it on. When it is on, the app saves each finished session to Apple Health as a flexibility workout with its start time and duration. The app asks for permission to write workouts only. It does not read any data from Apple Health.
Information saved to Apple Health stays in Apple Health under your control. We don’t receive it, we don’t use it for advertising or marketing, and we don’t share it with anyone. You can turn sync off in the app’s Settings, and manage or delete the saved workouts in the Health app.
Purchases and subscriptions
Premium is sold through Apple’s in-app purchase system. Apple processes the payment under the Apple Privacy Policy; we never receive your card number or billing details.
We use RevenueCat to check whether a subscription is active. RevenueCat receives a randomly generated app user ID, your purchase history for the app (product, purchase and expiry dates, trial and renewal status, storefront country) and technical information such as your device model, operating system version, app version and IP address. The app user ID is not linked to your email address or to your account in the app. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
Analytics and crash reports
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used and Firebase Crashlytics to find and fix crashes. Both are provided by Google.
- Usage events: for example that setup was started or finished, a routine was started or finished (with the routine’s name and length), the Premium screen was opened, a free trial was started, a reminder or Apple Health was turned on, or a theme was chosen.
- A few settings as properties: your goal, level, minutes a day and colour theme.
- An app instance ID, device model, operating system version, app version, language and approximate location derived from your IP address (country or region, not a precise location).
- Crash reports: what the app was doing when it crashed, with device and app details.
What is not sent
The names of your custom routines are never sent to analytics. Analytics data is not linked to your email address or to your account in the app.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version of the app shows ads provided by Google AdMob, using the Google Mobile Ads SDK. Ads never appear during a session. They start only after you have finished your first session, and Premium subscribers see none. When ads are requested, Google may collect and process:
- The device’s advertising identifier (IDFA), only if you allow tracking when your device asks: to personalize ads where allowed, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ads and prevent fraud.
- IP address and approximate location derived from it: to show relevant ads, measure them, prevent fraud and comply with the law.
- Ad interactions (ads shown and tapped): for measurement, reporting and fraud prevention.
- Device and app information (device model, operating system version, app version) and diagnostics: to deliver ads correctly, troubleshoot and prevent fraud.
How Google uses this data
This data is collected by Google as our advertising partner; we don’t receive it in a form that identifies you. Your sessions, routines, plan and Health data are never shared with Google for advertising or with any ad partner. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and the Google Privacy Policy.
Your ad choices
- Tracking permission: free users are asked by iOS whether the app may track them. If you choose “Ask App Not to Track”, the app does not access your advertising identifier. You can change this anytime in your device’s Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
- Consent: in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, and wherever else the law requires it, the app shows a consent message from Google’s User Messaging Platform before personalized ads are shown. Where this applies, you can change or withdraw your choice anytime in the app’s Settings.
- Ad personalization: you can manage how Google personalizes ads at My Ad Center.
- Premium: subscribing removes ads, and subscribers are not shown the tracking or consent prompts.
If you say no
If you don’t allow tracking or don’t consent, you may still see non-personalized ads in the free version, and the app keeps working normally.
Content the app downloads
Routine illustrations and some app content are downloaded from Google Firebase. As with any internet request, Google’s servers receive your IP address and basic device information in order to deliver the content.
Sharing, ratings and support
- Share cards: when you share your streak or a finished session, your device’s share sheet opens and the image goes only to the app you pick. We don’t keep a record of what you shared or with whom.
- Rating prompts: the app may show Apple’s built-in rating dialog. Your rating and review go directly to Apple; the app never learns whether you rated it or what you wrote.
- Support: if you email support@indimakes.com, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write, and use it only to reply and to improve the app.
Permissions
- Notifications: to show the daily reminder you set. Optional.
- Apple Health (write workouts): to save finished sessions as workouts. Optional, and off until you turn it on.
- Tracking: asked of free users only, so ads can be personalized. Optional.
Retention and deletion
- On-device data stays until you delete it. Logging out or deleting your account clears your sessions and custom routines from that device; deleting the app removes everything it stored on the device.
- Account and backup: kept until you delete your account in Settings › Delete account. Deletion removes the backup and the account. You can also ask us to delete them by email.
- Subscription records: kept by RevenueCat and Apple for as long as needed to provide the subscription and to meet accounting and legal obligations.
- Analytics and crash data: kept by Google in aggregated or pseudonymous form according to Google’s retention settings for Firebase.
- Advertising data: retained by Google according to Google’s data retention policy.
- Support emails: kept only as long as needed to resolve your request, and deleted within 24 months.
Security
Data sent by the app travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Your backup is stored under your own user ID with rules that allow only your signed-in account to read or change it. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we keep the data the app handles to the minimum needed.
Children
The Stretch App is a general audience app and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we’ll help delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have these rights over your personal information:
- EEA, UK and Switzerland (GDPR / UK GDPR): access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your data, receive a copy of it, withdraw consent at any time, and complain to your local data protection authority. We rely on your consent for personalized ads and Apple Health sync, on our contract with you for accounts, backup and subscriptions, and on our legitimate interests for analytics, crash reports, non-personalized ads, fraud prevention and replying to your messages.
- United States (including California and other state privacy laws): know what personal information is processed, delete it, correct it, and opt out of targeted advertising or the “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out by not allowing tracking on your device and through the app’s privacy options where shown. We don’t sell personal information for money.
- India (Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023): access information about your personal data, correct or erase it, withdraw consent, nominate someone to exercise your rights, and raise a grievance with us. If we don’t resolve your grievance, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.
- Other countries: you may have similar rights under your local law, and we will honour requests made under it.
