This policy explains what information the OPUS Manager app (“the app”) uses, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. OPUS Manager is published by Indimakes (“we”, “us”). Our general privacy policy covers our other apps and this website; where it differs from this page, this page applies to OPUS Manager.

In short

  • Your audio files stay on your device. We never upload, collect, or see them.
  • The app has no accounts and we don’t run servers for it.
  • The app shows ads from Google AdMob. Google may process your device’s advertising ID, IP address, and ad interactions to show and measure ads.
  • Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland), you’re asked for consent first and can change your choice anytime in Settings › Privacy options.
  • We don’t sell your personal information for money.

Information that stays on your device

OPUS Manager finds, plays, converts, renames, deletes, and shares .opus audio files on your device. To do that it processes the following only on your device. None of it is sent to us.

  • Audio files and their details (file name, folder path, duration, size, and date) from your device’s media library and from any folders you choose to add with Android’s folder picker.
  • Converted files. When you convert a file to M4A, the new file is saved in the app’s own storage on your device.
  • App settings: your language choice, the folders you added, whether you’ve seen the tutorial and warnings, and simple usage counts (how many times the app was opened, files played, and conversions completed) used to decide when to suggest rating the app.

Your control

Renaming or deleting a file only happens when you ask for it, and Android may ask you to confirm. If Android’s backup is turned on, your app settings (not your audio files) may be backed up to your Google account by Android, under the Google Privacy Policy.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app shows banner ads provided by Google AdMob, using the Google Mobile Ads SDK. When ads are requested, Google may collect and process:

  • Device identifiers, including the Android advertising ID: to show ads, personalize them where allowed, limit how often you see the same ad, measure them, and prevent fraud.
  • IP address and approximate location derived from it: to show relevant ads, measure them, prevent fraud, and comply with the law.
  • Ad interactions (ads shown and tapped): for measurement, reporting, and fraud prevention.
  • Device and app information (device model, Android version, app version) and diagnostics: to deliver ads correctly, troubleshoot, and prevent fraud.

How Google uses this data

This data is collected by Google as our advertising partner; we don’t receive it in a form that identifies you. On supported Android versions, the SDK may also use Android’s Privacy Sandbox ad features (Topics and attribution reporting) instead of identifiers. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and the Google Privacy Policy.

Ads appear only between groups of files in the app’s lists. Your audio files, file names, and folders are never shared with Google or any ad partner.

Your ad choices

  • Consent: in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, and wherever else the law requires it, the app shows a consent message from Google’s User Messaging Platform before personalized ads are shown. You can change or withdraw your choice anytime in Settings › Privacy options in the app.
  • Advertising ID: you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings (usually Settings › Privacy › Ads, or Settings › Google › Ads). Deleting it stops apps from using it for personalized ads.
  • Ad personalization: you can manage how Google personalizes ads at My Ad Center.

If you say no

If you don’t consent, or you limit ad personalization, you may still see non-personalized ads, and the app keeps working normally.

Google Play and background playback

  • Rating prompts: after you’ve used the app for a while, it may show Google Play’s built-in rating dialog. Your rating and review go directly to Google Play; the app never learns whether you rated it or what you wrote.
  • Background playback: when you play audio and leave the app, it keeps playing through a media notification so you can pause or skip. This uses Android’s media system and doesn’t send data anywhere.

Feedback emails

If you choose Settings › Feedback, the app opens your email app with a pre-filled message to feedbackopusapp@gmail.com that includes your app version, Android version, and device model, so we can troubleshoot. You can review and edit the message before sending. We use what you send only to reply to you and improve the app.

Sharing files you choose to share

When you tap Share on a file, Android’s share sheet opens and the file goes only to the app you pick (for example a messaging or cloud storage app). That app then handles the file under its own privacy policy. OPUS Manager does not keep a record of what you shared or who you shared it with.

Permissions

  • Music and audio (READ_MEDIA_AUDIO; READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on Android 12 and earlier): to find and play .opus files on your device. Files are processed only on your device.
  • Foreground service for media playback: to keep audio playing, with controls in a notification, after you leave the app.
  • Internet, network state, and wake lock: used by the Google Mobile Ads SDK to request and display ads. The app’s own features work offline.
  • Advertising ID and ad services (AD_ID, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_*): used by the Google Mobile Ads SDK as described above.

Folder access

Folders you add under Scan Folders are accessed through Android’s folder picker, which only grants access to the folders you choose. You can remove a folder in the app at any time.

Retention and deletion

  • On-device data (settings, usage counts, converted files) stays until you delete it. Uninstalling the app or using Clear storage in Android’s app settings removes it. Your original audio files are never changed or removed unless you delete them yourself.
  • Advertising data is retained by Google according to Google’s data retention policy.
  • Feedback emails are kept only as long as needed to respond and resolve your request, and are deleted within 24 months. You can ask us to delete them sooner by writing to us.

Security

Your files and settings stay inside Android’s app sandbox on your device. Data sent by the Google Mobile Ads SDK travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we keep the data the app handles to the minimum needed.

Children

OPUS Manager is a general audience utility and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we’ll help delete it.

Your rights

Because the app keeps your content on your device and we don’t operate accounts or servers for it, we generally hold no personal data about you apart from emails you send us. Depending on where you live, you may have these rights:

  • EEA, UK, and Switzerland (GDPR / UK GDPR): access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your data, receive a copy of it, withdraw consent at any time (in Settings › Privacy options), and complain to your local data protection authority. We rely on your consent for personalized ads, and on our legitimate interests for non-personalized ads, fraud prevention, troubleshooting, and replying to your messages.
  • United States (including California and other state privacy laws): know what personal information is processed, delete it, correct it, and opt out of targeted advertising or the “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out using Settings › Privacy options (where shown) and by deleting your advertising ID. We don’t sell personal information for money.
  • India (Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023): access information about your personal data, correct or erase it, withdraw consent, nominate someone to exercise your rights, and raise a grievance with us. If we don’t resolve your grievance, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.
